I Beg You to Hear Me!
Kiril Bozhinov & Francesca Ricci
‘I would like to evoke them all, name by name, but the list has been snatched and is nowhere to be found.’ (‘Requiem’ by Anna Akhmatova)
Akhmatova, Blok, Bulgakov, Esenin, Kharms, Mayakovsky, Pasternak …
“I Beg You to Hear Me!” celebrates the varied and colourful panorama of Russian literature of the 1920s and 1930s. Through ‘lyrical’ biographies and storyboards in the style of a graphic novel, the writers emerge as comic-strip heroes, living and creating during the turmoil of the early years of the Soviet Union.
This publication is the offspring of a multimedia exhibition held at dalla Rosa Gallery, London, in 2011.
